What is Taekwon-Do?
ITF
Taekwon-Do is the martial art of self defence.
As well as being an effective method for protecting
yourself, it also has other benefits such as
improving your physical fitness, discipline – and
simply having fun. International Taekwon-Do is safe and
easy for all ages, male and female. We have
separate classes for adults and children. |
Why have a beginners’ course?
Sometimes people feel a little uncomfortable
turning up to a martial arts school, even though
they may have wanted to try something like this
for a long time. This beginners course will
give you a chance to try it out with other beginners,
at any easy pace, before deciding if you want
to continue.
What we cover at the course
- Warm up and Stretching
- Basic stances
- Basic techniques (front punch, forearm low
block, basic
kicks)
- Pad work (kicking and punching pads with the
techniques we learn)
- Breaking (for those that want to, we try
a simple board break)
- Self Defence (what to do if someone grabs
you)
- Theory (a little bit about the history of
Taekwon-Do)
What to Bring
- Comfortable clothing (no
shoes needed)
- Water bottle (optional)
- Course fee
- Enthusiasm
